Tanner Health System is a five-hospital nonprofit health system providing convenient, personalized healthcare to communities across west Georgia and east Alabama. Our medical staff, comprised of more than 400 physicians and advanced practice providers, represent 34 medical specialties. We’re a community healthcare organization and our providers are part of that community. We not only not care for our patients, but we also care for our neighbors, friends, and loved ones. Tanner providers are a unique group of professionals who believe in bringing care to surprising places while serving a tight-knit, rural community.
As a nonprofit healthcare organization, Tanner does not operate for the benefit of shareholders, but rather for the good of the communities Tanner serves. Instead of dispersing earnings to shareholders, Tanner reinvests profits back into improving health care for communities in west Georgia and east Alabama in the form of expanded facilities, advanced technologies, additional physicians and caregivers, emergency care, community outreach, educational programs and other related benefits.
Tanner’s mission is to improve the health of the communities it serves. It fulfills that mission through expanding access to care, establishing medical specialties that otherwise may not be available in this area, ensuring patients receive efficient, quality care and working to develop community partnerships and programs to make the region a healthier place to live through its Get Healthy, Live Well collaborative.
Company History
Our story in many ways begins on Dixie Street. But really, it begins in the homes and farms throughout west Georgia. That’s where the need for a local hospital was first realized and where so much sacrifice went into building Tanner Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.
Since that first hospital opened in 1949, Tanner Health System has been a cornerstone of health and wellness. Our services have grown, but we never forget our roots as a hometown hospital and the personal level of care that has been our signature for generations.
